Why 40/40?
Forty days is long enough to interrupt old patterns.
IAM 40/40 is not about restriction for the sake of restriction. It is about creating a clear window to step back, reset, and reconnect.
For generations, periods of forty have symbolised transition, refinement, and renewal. In that same spirit, this journey offers modern people a practical way to pause, reflect, and return to life with greater clarity and intention.
This is a conscious break from the noise — and a return to what is real.
The Threshold Initiation
The journey begins with a symbolic 40-hour initiation fast.
Participants are invited to complete a water fast from 8pm on the first evening until midday two days later. This marks a conscious decision to step out of autopilot and begin the journey with greater awareness and intention. This is not about suffering. It is about intention.
If you have medical conditions, pregnancy, medication needs, or a history of eating disorders, you are encouraged to modify responsibly. Fruit, broth, or a shortened fast are completely acceptable.
The spirit of the fast matters more than the form.
What you may disconnect from
You are not fasting from life.
You are fasting from distraction.
Participants are invited to remove or reduce:
- social media scrolling
- alcohol and recreational substances
- pornography and compulsive sexuality
- processed foods and preservatives
- coffee and stimulant dependence
- unnecessary screen time
- gossip and reactive conversation
- constant noise and stimulation
Not as punishment.
But as an experiment in freedom.
Each removal creates space to observe:
- What am I avoiding?
- What am I attached to?
- Who am I without this?
What you reconnect to
The desert is not empty.

During the 40/40, participants are encouraged to increase:
- silence and prayer
- reflective journaling
- scripture and spiritual reading
- walking and pilgrimage
- breath and meditation
- volunteering and service
- creative expression
- time in nature
- deep conversation
- rest without guilt

When you register, you enter a 40-day guided container led by IAM Awakening with a 24 hour window to prepare and consider what you will fast from.
Each morning at 7am, you will receive a short email containing:
- a scripture
- a modern decode
- a reflection question
- a simple embodied practice
- encouragement to stay present
The daily guidance takes 3–5 minutes to read.
The rest of the day is yours to live differently.
No pressure. No competition. Just a daily return.
